Just want to put a question to those who may know, as i cant find anything online..
Anyway, aside from the obvious 'impersonating a police officer' what laws/rules are in place to stop me/you/anyone paining their car, or getting apparenls put on a car to replicate that of a UK police car....
I dont want to do it, just wondering what laws are in place to stop people doing it, as im surprised that no1 has ever done it, or at least copied it in the slightest?
So long as you disconnect the blue lights and siren there is nothing to stop you. There are a number of restored police cars around the country, you can even drive American police cars on the road.
what do you mean, "to get stuff from people".
People dont give the police things.
Anyway the illegal part would be if they were trying to pass themselves off as police, a replica car doesnt actually do that. I see motorcycle replicas on the road, old fire engines etc. doesnt mean that i think that Valentino Rossi is driving along the A14
whatever, you know what i mean, getting stuff from people....those muppets that let them out of turnings, the paranoia that comes when a police is behind you etc....
i have no conscious, just wondering about the legality... but even if your wrote police on the side, and didnt put a crest, or badge on...?
I know you get old ones....but i mean one that actually replicates that of a modern one?
look at Highway agency vehicles and various others that have reflective decals on them, own up how many of you have slammed your brakes on when seeing a van parked up in a layby thinking it was a camera van ?
As long as you dont use the word POLICE, their badges or show a blue light i think its fairly open season as to what you can do with colours and decals.
I think it still comes under the Law of Impersonation a police officer.
Someone I know still uses his psaa to pull people over on a motorway ,he says he does it just to see the peoples faces ,as soon as they sto he just drives on,
