Just heard on tv that dog insurance may be made compulsary. I agree with this and licences should be brought back too and it should be made compulsory for all dogs to be chipped .I am a dog lover .How many more of you would agree with this? If you are not prepared to do this then you should not own a pet. That is my statement about it. Too many people have animals and don't look after them. I t makes my blood boil when I hear of cruelty to animals. It is not always the animals that are at fault although it is bread into some of them.
There is another thread on this running in the News section at the moment Wendilla, with some interesting answers. Unfortunately the responsible dog owners with the well trained dogs will comply with the law and would be t he ones to suffer. Those who breed the aggressive dogs etc. will get their dogs taken away but probably won't care two hoots!! - will just go out and get another one, and another one >>>>>>>>>>>>>
yes it is a good idea, too late for me though, my pet insurers more than will not cover Bingo's MRI scan nor treatment now as it is related to his epilepsy and when I first took out the insurance he had already been diagnosed 12 years ago, If I ever decided to get another dog I wuld insure it immediately like my daughter has just done with her new Puppy Nut. It's too late for Bingo though, he's not long for this world .
Not all dogs are bad funnygirt.Yes if bitten you would be very wary. I would have trusted my labrador 200%.They say you can't trust any dog but a lot has to be with how they are brought up.I have a friend that had a rescue dog that had been bad used and it took her ages to get it too accept her hubby. Now I would not say I would put trust in a dog that has been previously bad used.
I don't understand why insurance stops a dog mauling someone, it's stupid owners that cause that. is it meant to prevent people owning dogs that are deemed high risk? That would be a good deterent as it's usually career dolite druggies that own those type of dogs for protection
I dont agree - I am a dog lover, have always had dogs - mainly labradors and golden retrievers. Just because I dont want to pay out for dog insurance doesnt mean to say I dont look after my lovely dogs. I do. I would prefer to pay the costs of vet bills as and if I need to.
All of my dogs have lived till about 14 years of age, all have been well loved and in good health. Although there have been vet bills over the years, there has never been any huge bills.
I certainly would have had to pay a fortune if I had paid for dog insurances for the last thirty-five years or so. (At the moment I have an five month old pup - which is the fourth dog I have owned.
I thought it was a good idea at first when i read the headlines today but if the aim is to use it to help pay complesation to people who get mauled by out o control dogs then i think the public are being asked to prevent the police enforcing the dangerous dogs act
