Hello all, I said I would get back to you and here I am....well I went for the colposcopy today and it showed up white areas on the cervix, the lady said that since I had a dodgy smear back in 2003, she wouldnt bother with a biopsy and just refer me for a loop biopsy to remove any bad cells. The colposcopy was nothing to worry about, just worried about the loop biopsy now, wondering if it looked really bad thats why she refered me straight away instead of doing the biopsy.....im actually feeling quite uneasy, and reassurance would be gratefully received!
As sqad says, the results of biopsy will give the info needed, but to enforce the importance of early action, I can recount my story. In 1978 (procedures were a bit different then) I had a number of abnormal tests and eventually they referred me for a cone biopsy, they removed pre cancerous cells (no as a young woman I never questioned what that meant) for a few years I lived in fear that something would reoccur, but here I am 32 years later and all tests have since been clear.
So this does not necessarily mean the worst has happened and early action is in your best interests. Please keep in touch, we are thinking of you.
I had some dodgy cells removed in 1985 and had to have check ups every 6 months for 2 years, then reverted back to the normal times and have been absolutely fine ever since. xx
Hi Lil75 I am glad that you have had your colposcopy, sorry that you need a loop biopsy. At least because you had a dodgy smear before they are taking every precaution. It is easy to say don't worry, but there is not a lot we can say until you get the results. Here's hoping that everything is alright, take care and let us know how it goes.
Thanks all, very nice of you to take the time out to answer, I had a phonecall from the hospital today and they said that they are running an extra clinic on friday and that they had a spare lot at 3pm...of course i took it...im worried I cant lie, but better out than in eh! Will keep you updated xxx
