Small Engine Mileage

I am looking to buy my first car, obviously it will have a small engine and I am looking at either a 1L Corsa or a 1.2L Fiesta.

Most of the cheap cars have a just over 100,000 miles on them, will one of these cars suit me just for a runaround for a few years or are small engines with a lot of miles a false economy and will be needing loads of work done?

Cars can do well over 10K if looked after and the cars you mention are pretty reliable and simple mechanically

that would depend on the condition of the car, if the car has aquired easy miles e.g. motorway driving with a sympathetic owner the chances are the engine will have plenty of life left in it. Allthough some engines will have aquired hard miles such as driving on rough or dirty tracks lack of maintanence and various other unsympathetic driving styles, try and look out for the one or two owner cars and i personally would stay clear of any boy racer looking cars as they usually have been driven hard.
