Indonesian Students Protest Obama

Why do Indonesian students protest Obama? All I can find is an endlessly looped Associated Press article saying 1.) He is anti-Muslim, and 2.) He is an imperialist. Now that in truth may be all there is to explain the protests, but the explanation seems so shallow that I suspect the news media is not curious and therefore covers the story without any depth. The media seems only interested in running photos of people throwing shoes at Obama's poster. It shows drama but it is not professional journalism.

It is possibly an anti-American protest rather than an anti-Obama one. The element of shoe-throwing implies that they are imitating protests in Iraq.

Perhaps it is because Muslims hate the West, so when the the President of the most powerful country in the world, dares to visit what is a predominantly Muslim country, then there is bound to be protests, after all being a Muslim as well as a student is a pretty explosive mixture.
