What excately can/do they do?

Can you use them to write reports, notes etc?

Anyone know of any good models under �200?

i have one, Its called Dell Axim X3. You can see what it looks like here:

They have Microsoft Word, Excel, You can download a powerpoint viewer for them. Also in the X30 which is model above X3 (arround 50 Pound more expensive) Has a wireless Arial which can access Wireless INternet weather in home or in a place with wireless internet e.g MOTO service Station.

What they Do:

Can Play DVDs (considering you have enough memory which can be bought in an SD card)

Can Surf Internet (Weather through Wireless Ariel Or Wire Connecting to computer)

Play High GraphiX Games

Play Music And Other Media WIth its InBuilt Media Player

Calculator

MSN Messanger

Put your pictures on there

Use it as a file transfer Device

Plan Your Calender

Plan your tasks

Read your E-mail (considering you are connected)

Read e-Books

Store your contacts

Look at time

Record Sound

Make Notes

Have your favorite picture as your wallpaper.

(Other Programs Can Be downloaded from the internet and transfered to PDA from computer.

I forgot to say, Usualy X3's are about 100 Pounds, X30 can range from 150 - 190 Pounds. I recoment an X3 If you arnt going to be useing wireless internet.

I have an Ipaq 3970 which I picked up cheap second hand.

I am self employed and use it a fiar bit. I have a Customer Relationship program called ACT! which I use on my pc. it also comes with software that I can sync it with my Ipaq. It integrates with Outlook etc, so I always know whats going on, and I always have a list of my customers on me.

Persoanlly, I am not wild about the grafitti features to enter text, soI purchased a keyboard for it that clips to the bottom (you can get wirelss ones) When I was at a meeting the other day and the other guy was running late, I used it to type up some notes.

Thanks for your answers guys, my problem was that I didn't understand how PDA features could be used in a practical context. But I have a better idea now.

MTIH1992, you have mentioned a couple of things I really had no idea of e.g. playing DVDs. I was thinking of getting an Acer N30, but that Dell one also sounds interesting - and it a better known brand. I need to do more research!

Since I'm looking to do a Masters, it sounds more useful than I previously thought, especially since you mention (wireless) keyboards oneeyedvic.
