Does The Duke of Edinburgh most recent gaffe involving a female Sea Cadets Instructor make you wince with embarrassment or do you feel Britain just wouldn't be the same without Prince Philip? The Story: http://www.onenewspage.com/news/Front+Page/20100312/9078471/Royal-Gaffe-Does-One-Work-In.htm) Also, I managed to find these rather excellent quotes - although I am unsure if they are all correctly attributed to the Duke of Edinburgh! 1. China State Visit, 1986 If you stay here much longer, you’ll all be slitty-eyed. 2. To a blind women with a guide “Do you know they have eating dogs for the anorexic now?” 3. To an Aborigine in Australia “Do you still throw spears at each other?” 4. To his wife, the Queen, after her coronation “Where did you get the hat?” 5. To a driving instructor in Scotland “How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them through the test?” 6. To the President of Nigeria, dressed in traditional robes “You look like you’re ready for bed!” 7. On the London Traffic Debate “The problem with London is the tourists. They cause the congestion. If we could just stop tourism, we could stop the congestion.” 8. After the Dunblane shooting “If a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?” 9. To a student who had been trekking in Papua New Guinea “You managed not to get eaten, then?” 10. To the matron of a hospital in the Caribbean “You have mosquitos. I have the Press” All the best, Spare Ed

What I meant bobjugs,
Was I didn't get any medals like Phillip!

Boobi,
Yes he was good looking when I came across him back in the late 1940s,but he was a prat then, and was always having to be extricated from scrapes.

The poll is back!
The man is a Buffoon !
I think Phil is excellent.....he makes me laugh and Liz loves him.......
He was a royal price in his own right when he met and married Elizabeth. Ever since then he has had to more or less blend into the background which must be very frustrating.
Spitting Image was his Forte. A Natural.......
Liz loves him? Did you see that moment in 'The Queen' where Philip grumbles about why couldn't Charles just have a mistress like anyone else and a cloud passes over Helen Mirren's face for a split second. There's a reason for that.
AT LAST!!!!! A decent bloody poll I can actually vote on!!!! Don't try to diss a man who won that many medals for gallantry and bravery you'll just make yourself look a Snag
It's all Greek to me !
He was born a prat, grew up being a prat, and will always be a prat.
Luckily he will soon be dead, and we can forget about him..
He was a prat when we(in my military life) had to cover up for in 1945,and they still cover up for him!
RJUKL says ''He was a royal price in his own right '' And That's Not a Typo !
brionon,
Mybe that should read ''He IS a royal pricK in his own right ''
mr v you said the word prick i am shocked !!!!! but really amused at the same time xxxx
A national embarrassment.

I think the young lady he insulted showed great restraint in not slapping him. She deserves a great deal of credit. I would not have blamed her if she'd lashed out at him though.
