Does anyone actually manage to use these things regularly, without having to call the staff over?

Since when have checkout staff been a nuisence?
I shop early Saturday morning so no queues.
Saturday morning! whats that TGG
Ps Hi panic That other thred is still going just. ( you know the one that I mean ) ;-)
Boo,it's not the checkout staff that's the nuisance, its those customers
who stand in line looking all around and suddenly discover they have to pay for something. I wouldn't have the patience that checkout staff have, to deal with them.
I hate it. Unexpected item in the etc because I had swiped some grapes which were in a bag with a bar code. Staff member came over and said that everyone gets it wrong on them and that I have to weigh it. I always feel guilty when I am doing anything on these self service tills so avoid them if at all possible.

Thank heavens it's not just me.

Every few months I decide to have another go, thinking it will all be plain sailing.
I have one successful day and think I have cracked it.

Then I end up like a lemon again, hoping someone can come and dig me out. I feel as if there are silent sirens going off, and a huge flashing arrow over my head to point out the idiot to the staff.
