Murder by Numbers? Did anyone watch?

I missed the last 45 minutes. Can anyone advise how the kids get caught by Ms Bullock and what the relevance of her flashbacks are?
Cheers!

The other one had tried to strangle her before he fell off, and his ring left a mark on her neck. She knew he couldnt have been the killer because none of the other victims had ring marks on their necks, she called sams bluff by saying that he had made a vcr tape of the murders, he bottled it and confessed to it all. hope this helps.phew, need a cuppa now.x
The flashbacks are memories from her traumatic past: her abusive husband, who she married when she was sixteen, stabbed her repeatedly when she decided to leave and dumbed her body on the side of a road. This accounts for her empathy with the victim and her social alienation, inability to trust men etc.
