I want to buy something online from Amsterdam and the credit or debit card charge is 4%. I have the option of paying by bank transfer at no extra charge but I don't know what a bank transfer entails, it is explained when I have completed my transaction. I want to know what it is before I commit myself. Can anyone tell me what it is please. Thanks, Kath.

You go to your bank with the details and they arrange the payment to the overseas bank account. Usually a flat fee of £20 or so so no good for small payments

Thanks dzug, the 4% charge works out at £15 so I won't bother with the bank transfer, I was naively hoping it would be free. Thanks again, Kath.
