Container Gardens
Any suggestions for plants to grow in containers that survive frosty winters. Both flowering and non flowering suggestions please. Thanks in advance

the problem lies not so much with the hardiness of the plants as the fact that in containers the roots are at risk of freezing which kills the whole plant. If you swather the pot in frost fleece this protects the roots. Hardy fuchsias are good and easy to grow..pick one with a gold or variegated leaf for added colour

My camellia is in a pot and has overwintered the past 5 years or so. I do increase the pot size every couple of years but it's very happy in a pot, we give it camellia feed granules in the spring. At we have a patio garden with gravel and slabs, nearly everything is in pots, including oleanders (a bit frosted this year but look fine now) and all my bulbs are sprouting again.
