Colourful/Frozen Monitor Screens.

Occasionally, when I try to shut down my pc, the monitor freezes in a vivid 'grill' type display of black and dark orange bars against a bright orange background. Con/Alt/Del has no effect and I have to shut down incorrectly. There doesn't seem to be any problem when firing up again. Has anyone any advice please. Kind regards, Ned.

Are you running Windows 98? A lot of the shut down problems were related to graphics adaptors - have a search through the Microsoft Knowledge base and there may be a fix. If it's any other system I can only suggest a wider search at MS (it may still be graphics realted IMO).
