My mother has not yet got the Internet on her computer. She is now considering having it installed. Short of suggesting my provider, can anyone suggest who they consider is the best provider around for cost and helpline advice. Thanks.

I have only been with Plus Net for 6 months, since I moved house, but am delighted with it and customer support is very good if needed.
Has she got sky or virgin if she has 1 of them she could get it for nothing if she has certain packages ?

Thanks for these thoughts. Mr k - no, she hasn't got Sky or Virgin.
I've got o2 not bad at all £7.50 per month flat rate cancel when I want to, I haven't had any problems so far, been with them 12 months.
I've been with TalkTalk for over a year now and have had very little trouble.
UK calls are also free and the overseas rates are very competitive.
To get a comparison on costs, you could try the following Website.
On the right side of the page is a window, in which it can tell you the best possible speeds you can expect. In the dropdown box pick the Essentials 24MB -40GB limit and then enter your mother's postcode in the box underneath. You will get a selection of providers with relevant costs and the best expected speeds available. I also tells you exactly how far she is from the local exchange. This can have a significant bearing on what speeds can be provided.
Hope this helps, whichever provider you go for.
