My Daughter (36 yrs) is going away to join her husband in the Far East in 2 weeks for 9 months.
I want to buy her something nice for a going away pressie as we are very close and shes a bit of a softy?
I'm a bit stumped, any help appreciated.

how about a pandora bracelet? You can buy charms with individual meanings to suit any occasion, and she can collect them on her travels.

or those new truth pendants - you can put special trinkets inside - a lock of hair etc.

I like the idea of a photo locket too.
