Does anyone have any personal experience of abdominal adhesions and do you know if the NHS uses GYNECARE INTERCEED to prevent adhesions reforming during/after corrective surgery?

Some years ago I had emergency surgery for appendicitis. About 12 months after that I suffered from what appeared to be severe stomach cramps. I went to my GP and I was referred to Hospital where I had an endoscopy, a barium meal enema (don't ask !!) and other items placed in various orifices !! All was declared OK, and I was eventually told that it was "PROBABLY" adhesions. When I asked what could be done, I was politely informed that it "would go away" in time. Luckily, it has never returned, so maybe they were right.

Thanks fbg40 - mine began about 10 years ago following surgery, and have not flaired up for about 6 years, but have been in A&E 3 times in a fortnight in agony, had scans and b/tests and allsorts ..... now waiting for consultant appt which is in April - and then the adhesiolysis op to seperate them.....which apparently is not too successful sometimes - so bit nervous really ..........
i had an ultrasound cos i suffered constant lower abdo pain and was found to have ovarian polyps so they sent me to hospital for laparoscopy & hysteroscopy and whilst they carried out this procedure they found i had adhesions and carried out adhesiolisys. when i came round they asked me if i had previous surgery that had caused them, but i hadnt. they looked slightly perplexed at this. things seem to be getting worse again, and after further investigation i have adenomyosis. so, in answer to your question, yes i have experience of abdo adhesions, but sorry i dont know about the other bit, and i guess that was the important bit of your question.
