last week I saw a young girl reversing out of her drive, with three little children in her car, must have been junior school age..she had all the windows up and a fag hanging out of her mouth..surely this is totally irrisponsible, felt like banging on the window and telling her to stub it out, would anyone have done so, or is it none of my business?

(Makes if hard to light a ciggie though - LOL).
We are planning on having a second child soon and I will definitely give up the fags this time (though luckily there were no problems with our first daughter) because I am so ashamed that I smoked first time. I still beat myself up about it but moreso now because I know what "a mother's love" is.
At the end of the day its our choice to smoke and the children don't have that choice if we're breathing it in their faces. I want my child(ren) to have a long and happy life and would never inflict that on them. The thought of my own health and wanting to be around for my kids as long as I can is what is driving me to get the motivation to stop. (Wow, I've nearly talked myself into it!!)
Anyway, you'd have thought *that* mother would have thought like that and I can't understand any parent that cares more about their nicotine and doesn't care enough to think of their kids' health/future. I do what I can now to protect my child from it.
Anyway, now I've gone off on one I'll depart.
None of your business. I don't agree with smoking either, nor cursing & screaming at kids or buying them everything in sight & letting them run wild.
But doing what you suggested would be like a police state. Just because we don't approve doesn't give us the right to do that.
The other comments that say ' we smoke outside, etc' are kidding themselves - you can't claim to love your kids then keep doing something you know will adversely affect your health, so to them, good luck in giving up.
