You'll never guess what unusual birds I had in my garden on Monday. No, honestly, you'll never guess, so I'll have to tell you ..............................wild turkeys. When I came home at dinner time (lunch time if you're southern!) I noticed two large birds in the field at the bottom of our garden. I got my binoculars out but couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. I did 'google' it, but only ending up with pictures of wild turkeys (which are native to the states) I thought I must be seeing things. After I'd gone back to work my teenage son saw them in our garden and took a photo which he then showed to one of his mates (a trainee gamekeeper) who confirmed that they are indeed wild turkeys. He said he'd seen them before, but that was a couple of miles away from our house. They must be escapees from a game farm or something. I can't believe I've seen a bird from my North America field guide to birds here when I've never even seen them in the states!
I had a strange bird in my garden, it was orange looked like a man and had a big chest, so i told katie price to sling her hook and od off out of my garden!
One ran past down the road past my gate last year. I was quite amused. He headed on down the road looking really determined. Never saw him again. I presume there must be quite a few about though, escapees I would agree.
we used to go to a wilderness park in the US where there were wild turkeys...you had to be careful in the autumn as the locals used to hunt them. Anyway these things are stupid! They stand in the middle of the road and attack cars!
