Used to be six months North - not sure if it still is tho'
yeah six months unless its from inland revenue or something as it usually states on them
Cheques are legally valid for 6 years, but banks may choose to refuse them after 6 months.

if your cheque is about to run out of date, simply return it with a covering letter asking for it to be re-written with new date.
It is impolite not to cash a private cheque as the sender may be mentally adjusting for it to be cashed swiftly.
(my Mum was very strict about this !!)
