Readers

This is a difficult one. Now I'm totally blind, there are books I remember reading but for whatever reason, the audio book companies do not seem amenable to producing them...I guess they can't do everything, even though I've asked...so I'm wondering does anyone in AB land know of anyone who reads or would read a book(s), whether through altruism or a fee...and preferably someone who can do some kind of characterisation, rather than reading in just a er um monotone? Ta Muchly Indeed if you can help with this one.

Woodelf, after striking up a similar conversation some years ago with an elderly gentleman of deteriorating eye-sight I considered giving it a go..............<smile>

Generally, I hate hearing my voice on playback but I might...........might consider giving it a go.

What sort of book(s) are you thinking about ?

am sorry to hear your plight woodelf.....I've recorded books on tape of J.Archer for my 90y aunt - mad fan.

Please put your Q in Jobs....for those at home who want to increase their income.

Thanks Tambourine...but there are lots of J Archer audios already about the place, libraries etc...but I'll consider your idea of putting my Q into the Jobs section - I'll get back to you Jack when I've looked at my fave book and seen how many pages it's got, etc...but I assure you, it aint War and Peace...smile!

They have over 16,000 audio books and I've typed in a few searches to see what they came up with .They seem to have everything from Charles Dickens,to current popular fiction genres.
They also have your chap Algernon Blackwood :)

Be no good me reading any books for you ,by the time you decipher my Norfolk accent you would have nodded off .

Hi Shaney and Thanks for your time in your research, but I'm already a member of the rnib talking books and a lot of their stuff are copies of commercial audios, though they do a lot of their own recording too...but they also have a lot of bl**dy awful readers, but anyway they aint got what I'm after though they have some books by the author I'm wanting to be read, but they use bl**dy awful readers - I did however recently listen to the Algernon Blackwood CD as it was read by one of my fave readers. And what the heck, so you've got a Norfolk accent, but could you do different voices...the book(s) I'm wanting are set in Devon. Thanks again for all your help.

Hey Jackthehat, if you can have a look at The Pathway by Henry Williamson in your library or stand for ages in a bookshop, that is my all time fave book, along with Dandelion Days by same author.

What other titles would you like to revisit, or even have heard about and would like to dip into ?

I have quite an extensive book collection, unfortunately, it doesn't contain anything you've mentioned so far .............

If you came up with a list, I'm sure we could divvy it out amongst ourselves....smile
