age restriction in nightclubs "too old"
A local nightclub (uk) recently got raided on a student night for underage drinkers which resulted in around 70% being underage. Now the club check I.D's on the door, supposedly all I.D's however check all male and pick and choose which females they want in.
Now, 2 of my friends now have been refused for being too old after showing I.D ( obviously one was a male and the female friend wasn't wearing a miniskirt) both in their 30's on a work night out.
I am pretty sure this is illegal in UK with the equality law bill and discrimination law.
However i don't know if the club will have a discretion act in their license, however if they do they should have this visibly clear at the door instead of it being up to the door man.
Can someone shed some light on this please as i would like to formally address this as the doormen are ruining the once great club.

Any company can refuse entry be it because of age colour or sex (although of course most places don't as it wouldn't be in their interests).
dothawkes31 and bobjugs12 are correct. Ultimately, when you enter a nightclub/tesco/a football ground etc you are on Private Property. They can admit whoever they want.
It's the same if you had a party at home. If you didn't like fat people you could refuse entry to them. I refused the entry of an individual at a party a few years ago as I am against her beliefs. She moaned but could do nothing about it.
