advice on travelling with only 5 months left on uk passport

Am travelling to Italy for three nights in Sept, but passport runs out end of Feb 06. meaning when i return on Sept 16th i only have 5 months left til it expires. Can i still travel on my current passport? have heard something about needing to have a full 6 months on passport. advice welcome!! Z

It depends on where you wish to travel; each country has its own rules regarding the time to expiration of a passport.

You could always renew your passport in September ahead of its expiration and get the extra months credited to the new passport.

Came back from Tenerife at end of June and the kids passports expired beginning of July, no problem there.  If in doubt check the embassy of the country you want to go to (should be able to do it on line).
