Puppy chewing electric cables.
10 Answers
I would appreciate any advice to deter my puppy from chewing electrical cables. The mobile phone charger and speaker cables were one thing but I worry about her getting hurt (or worse) by biting into 220 volt cables eg electic fire leads. Anyone who has solved this problem - spraying something that puts them off? Any advice would be appreciated.

Get him/her used to it and most animals are very happy and see it as a safe haven. However, get proper advice as to how to introduce it into your puppy's life and never use it as a punishment.
Many thanks for your responses. Woofgang - the sockets are built in just above the skirting board. Other than rebuild the house I am stuck. Just have to keep a close eye on the minx. Carmalee - we have a crate for her and she is very happy in it overnight but I want her to have the run of the house during the day. I appreciate your help

Best idea woofgang. as long as the cables are covered it should be fine. Puppies do chew things, just the same as babies do. your puppy is teething terry. I suggest you get her a toy or two that she can play with and chew to her hearts content. Rubber ones with a squeaker seem to be favourite, our dogs loved them and never touched the cables. It's great fun watching them enjoying making a racket!
i had two brothers (pups) at the same time, they are now 2 years old. You needed eyes in your wossname when they were babies..it was easier to pup proof the room than rely on aversion...our first ever dog chewed for England. We were told to put hot mustard on something he loved to chew but wasn't allowed to so we spiked our pine coffee table....he licked the mustard off then chewed the table!!
