Tina Turner

This is going to sound really mad - but out at a dinner tonight someone on our table reckoned that in the late 80's he saw a warm up concert done by TinaTurner in Boston, Lincolnshire (not the US!). He said it was fantastic! We all laughed at him and said he must be joking - but could he have been telling the truth? He was adamant that he did see her there.

Tina Turner has held the world record for the biggest concert audience - and her new world tour is at arena level, and will sell out instantly.
Sher is not going to be appearing anywhere in the UK except on a formal tour, in a stadium, so your friend may have seen a good imitation - but imitatation she was.

Footle,
Well Hendrix, Elton John and Marc Bolan all played at the Gliderdrome in the late-60's and early-'70's, so during that time period it may have been feasible...but I definitely don't recall Tina playing in Boston in the '80's. It would have been seriously humungous news among my sister and her lot for one thing! Obviously it must have been a tribute. Shame.

She definitely did play in Boston Lincs in the early 80's. I went and she was terrrific, absolutely not a look a like. It was during a low period in her career and she did the full act, with backing singers/dancers, and a brilliant pianist. Concert was in a cinema/theatre in the centre of Boston, near the river. It's probable been demolished by now.
