Have you seen the latest Ryvita ad. A group of obviously health conscious woman gather 'round a table to gossip and eat their lunch? So basically they're using the ladies who lunch theme.

The pay off line is. For ladies that crunch. Shouldn't it be 'for ladies WHO crunch'. They're people not things.
They pay all that money to an advertising agency and it's wrong.

Sorry, it seems a small grouch, but it drives me mad every time I see it.

Happy Easter everyone.

yess!!!!!!! I thought I was the only one!!!!!! It gets right up my nose for that very reason!!!

And before anyone else posts....both of us have lives, we also have standards!!!!
you're both nuts ;o)
Maybe not nuts, but a bit pedantic.
I'm surprised it wasn't "For ladies wot crunch" the grammar & spelling are so appalling on the TV these days. The one that gets me is Haitch SBC - grrr
I'll choose nuts over pedantic any day
trust me, you're nuts, lol!

LOL, yes I do have a life. Honest!

Thanks woofgang and lardhelmet in particular for backing me up.

I worked in advertising for many years, but am far to long in the tooth to cut the mustard these days. The industry has a penchant for employing people in their twenties. In other words 'yoof' over experience. Sadly many of these kids don't appreciate that products are sold to people of all ages, not just people of clubbing age. Also - and sorry to sound rabid here - but don't schools teach spelling and grammar these days. Gosh, am I turning into a grumpy middle aged woman :-)
bizzylizzy.. you missed a question mark up there ;o)
and it's "too" long
and yes, you are.. lol!
Naughty Sara :-)
yes, I am :o)

Excellent, ten out of ten, you spotted my deliberate mistake!! Well done......
hahaha bizzy :-)
mistake(s)!!!

I thank you :o)
dead right, me too.
lardhelmet,The word that gets me is: draw(r)ing, all the BBC Newsreaders pronounce it like that.Don't know where they get the extra r from.
I think you had the answer in your question.

It may be grammatically incorrect, but the concept of 'Ladies that Lunch' has become popular parlance rather than 'ladies who lunch'.

My pet hate is when they use 'less' to describe fewer multiples of something rather than less of a single thing.

e.g. there was less rain today: good
e.g. there were less rainstorms today: bad
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned my pet hate "I was sat".
And who is this Laura Norder they keep talking about on the news?
