I have an old string of pearls, how can I find out if they are real, cultured, or fake ? They are a slightly pinky colour and are at least 50 years old, on string. No clasp. Thanks all.

Thanks, specially Robina :)
pearls are constantly grown/farmed and value lessens due to over-production. Rare marble sized hawaiian are most prized due to their size.
.
Look out for Obama's wife's or Hilary Clinton's pearls.....they're worth £k's.

About 20 years ago my wifes brother was working in Saudi...he brought this little pendant back as a pressie for her...she never really liked it, and thought it looked a bit tacky.
Last year her brother asked what she had done with it...not wanting to offend him she said she kept it safely in a drawer as it was very delicate, and she felt she might break or lose it.
He said...'' Why dont you sell it then''... she asked if it was worth anything...He told her to go and get it valued.
Turns out to be a real pearl... surrounded with diamonds... set in 24 ct gold.

The jeweller said...£2500....she nearly dropped dead...she said she only kept it because her brother had bought it..... otherwise she would have thrown it out..!
Real pearls are gritty when rubbed on your teeth, fake pearls are smooth.
A real pearl has what looks like a belly button, this is where its been attached inside the shell, if its not got one of thses then its most prob fake. Or watch the link below
