i'm dating a man who is 9 months discharged from Bankruptcy, are there mortgages for this type of person?

i'm not linked to my partner financially but i would like to buy a property with him. is this possible? do banks consider this type of borrower ... ever?

The problem with Bankruptcy is that the effects last longer than just the banlcruptcy period. He might find a mortgage but the likelyhood is that he will pay way over the odds in terms of an interest rate.

It can be bad enough getting a mortgage even with a CCJ against your name so being bankrupt can be a big problem in this regard.

There are a few things you can do. In my opinion your best option is to apply for a mortgage and claim him as a second income but not identify him. He won't go on the mortgage but he can be put on the deeds at a later stage, it's only about �120 to do.

If your partner is 9 months discharged from bankruptcy there most certainly are options available to you. As you know the rules regarding bankruptcy changed on 1st April 2004 and therefore significantly changing the length of time that restrictions are placed upon bankrupts.
