Picnics, If it ain't the ants its the wasps but at least you can up and relocate from the ants without them flying after you so you scream attempt to swat it and run like a 4yr child.

Im guessing that lemons behind your ears would just look like giant flowers to the wasps and bees and you'd end up with the whole hive investigating your "Fruitbowl" hair do.

Can I borrow your cat for the summer peri? I've just been on ebay looking at fly screens for my patio door. I can't stand any sort of insect. Next on my shopping list - citronella candles.

Killed my first wasp of the year last week....and the bees have been bouncing off the windows this week......

Wasps don`t appear until the plums are ripe on the trees, most likely, what you saw was a very similar but harmless Hover-fly, which kill and eat greenflies and black-fly. There are many varieties of bees so please leave them alone for our sake, and put down a very small blob of honey to supplement their food in cold weather.

Carlton I quite agree - we need to keep our honey bees.... not many people realise the impact this will have if they go.

If you try to like the bees to the RED SQUIRREL and the horrible wasps the the grey squittle (as I call them) then people may realise that BEES ARE GREAT :)

For the past 2 weeks we have had bumble bees that look like they are on steriods buzzing around my garden, they are bl00dy massive.

DEN - these are Queen bees trying to find a nest.... so as long as you are happy with that then leave them and your garden will be fully looked after this summer

Devil - they always seem to come at me, especially when I am hanging the washing out - I end up with throwing the pegs in the air and Mr.Den's pants end up in next door's garden.
