Hi i verified my paypal account last week, made a gift payment lastnight around 11pm of £100 and he has got the money etc but when i just checked my online bank balance, the £100 is still in my bank? is this normal or have paypal messed up and ive made a nice £100? i pray its the latter but doubt it lol any ideas?
PayPal (in my experience) do not ever mess up,well not these type of payments.
What is happening is,the bank that your friend is with is just telling them that a payment has been made into their account, but hasn't been cleared yet.(They can't draw on the money till it has).
As it hasn't been cleared it is still (technically) in your account.
So I am sorry, but you are not £100 better off.
Don't worry .. It will be gone on Monday. Funds have been checked and probably reserved against that payment. That is all that can happen until next banking day!
How do you pay paypal? Credit cards take a while but the payee is credited at once. Do they do direct debit? I can only ever remember Paypal accepting creditcards as a form of payment, but I have been with them for a long time so it may have changed.
Thanks people problem solved, oh never mind i knew it was to good to be true lol, yeah now that im verified they av started doing direct debit, think i wud of preferred to keep using my card so that i knew where i was when i checked my online bank balance. i predict an overdraft happening this way if im not careful lol
I use paypal to pay for a lot of different things. It is VERY safe. I just keep my maestro card number on my paypal account but don't actually put any deposits in it. They just deduct it from my bank account automatically as and when I use them. Paypal just ask me for my username and password. I have never had any problems with paypal and will carry on using them.
Paypal can use Debit Card linked to any account, or Credit Card for purchases. Paypal promises the money to the seller, that's all. If Paypal cannot get it from the account, they will append your account, and come after you to correct the account debit.
I like PayPal because it means the people you are paying (or who are paying you) never have your bank or card details direct, PayPal keeps the details secure within their system. I can pay someone via PayPal only knowing their email address as reference, and I use it all the time for eBay transactions. I may have been lucky but I've never had any problems with it at all.
