Is this how to sex a starling?

As the sun was rising, I went out and topped up the bird table with food. Within seconds, our two regular starlings appeared. No 1 went straight onto the table and started stuffing its beak, scattering seed all over the place and onto the lawn beneath.

Starling 2, on the lawn, pecked at the seed thrown off the table, and then spotted a pile of dried grass the Lioness had put out as suitable nesting material. It carefully sorted this and flew off with a beakful, returning after a short while to repeat the process, which it did at least twice more.

All this time starling 1 continued to stuff its beak.

The Lioness says this is an infallible method for sexing starlings..........?

is the Lioness saying that females are greedy? surely the female would need to eat a fair bit during the egg laying season - although starlings apparently build the nest together once the male has started it off.
