I'm currently working for my local council in a public library. I do enjoy the job, but unfortunately job security isn't so good at the moment so I've started to look elsewhere. My problem is that I would like something similar, but I'm having trouble thinking of jobs that are related to the 'book world'.

I have been keeping an eye out on jobs cropping up in the two university libraries in my city, but no luck so far. Can anyone think of any jobs that might be suitable for me?

Why not look outside of your comfort zone. You may find something rewarding and fun that you'd never even considered before.
I don't know where you live, i work in the oil industry and, my work has a library to hold technical litrature. You could also work in one of the large book chains like Waterstones, their employees have to have an interest in books to work there, they are not just shop assistants.
You can search for a better job while working. If ever you do not have job security also, continue working till you get a better job.
why not ask if you can have either more responsibility or be moved to a different department so you can learn new skills it may help you in your job search
