After the debate should we back Nick Clegg now as a man of the people.?
He is one of us isn't he ? Just look at his family tree Noble Russian dynasty, father head of a banking house , aunt a Baroness. So he really understands how we all live.
He is an atheist and doesn't believe in religious mumbo jumbo, a real down to earth chap. However he is bringing up his children as Roman Catholics because his wife is RC .
He stands for Prison Reform , involving much shorter sentences and better conditions in jail.
He wants to reduce the legislation on terror and improve human rights.
He wants to remove completely our nuclear defence.
He wants to abolish the pound and join the Eurozone.
He wants an amnesty for all illegal immigrants.

No. Having said that I would not have voted Lib/Dem either before the debate or since reading your post.
Vote for Nick Clegg, NO, NO NO,,

He wants to give illegal immigrants in the UK now, British Citizenship, what a joker!!!!
i'll be voting for him
Don't forget Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli's unjust Boer war

I'm with him on getting rid of nuclear weapons.

Can you explain why we should keep them?
If it wasn't for his open door policy and amnesty on immigrants he may have got my vote. How does an illegal immigrant prove he has been here 10 years?

How can you possibly improve human rights for the individual? What about our rights?

How can he be any softer on crime than Labour has been?

I agree about Trident and its abolition. Nuclear disarmament should only involve the big boys to negotiate. A first strike on Britain would wipe us off the map so its useless for us to have nuclear weapons.

We should have joined the Euro year ago, the pound has been sinking without trace.
You leave our pound alone!

If we were in the Euro we would be bailing Greece out now (followed soon by the other pig countries)

I think we need to be clear here. The Libdems are not only against nuclear weapons they want to get rid of all our nuclear power stations as well and rely on alternatives like windmills.

no, its a wasted vote

I should add they want to get rid of petrol and diesel engines by 2040 and rely on batteries which you could charge up overnight . This would enable you to run on the batteries for about 100 miles between charges.
There are currently 100 million private cars in the UK which would require charging so I assume we would need rather a lot of power stations or windmills.

Did you hear about the Lib Dem with a sense of humour?

No, I never have either......
The Liberal Democrats' manifesto begins:

First we'll form a government.

Then we'll form an opinion.
Different methods of powering cars in 30 years time?

Considering how fast technology is moving on, that seems quite possible.
Look at the difference in mobile phones and their batteries in the last 20.
the lib dems are just a bunch of yoghurt knitters as the late great mike dickin used to say on talksport
Family tree - really not an issue here is it, he isn't "actually" a russian noble so why would it affect his ability to lead the party?
His religious beliefs are his own - but I think it wise that he is keeping religion a private family matter rather than adding it to his politics, and I think the world would be a better place if religion could be separated from all state governments
Prison reform - i think we can all agree that the prison system is not working and the reoffending rate is to high, you might want to cut offenders hands off or poke their eyes out with red hot pokers BUT seeking as that is not an option are you willing to allow someone else to try something new? Would you really still object if it ended up costing the UK less money and reduced reoffending rates - it can't get any worse in my opinion.
The legislation on terror is out of all proportion with the threat - re-establishing our civil liberties that have been rapidly eroded by labour would go a long way to protecting our future safety more than ID cards or banning protest would.
Nuclear weapons are no longer needed by the UK - the cost is too high, the politics have changed, time to reduce the numbers
If an illegal immigrant has been here for years on end wouldn't it be better to let them work legally and pay taxes and get them on the system to add to the UK
