can anyone tell me if anyone really wins any of the competitions in the magazines such as take-a-break and such or am I wasting my time?  Also are can anyone recommend any good competitions I could be entering on a regular basis.  Thanks

well see i wondered the same myself. as well as like find the �100 note in crisp packets and the "you are possibly a winner in our �50000 prize draw" and you get a list of 11 names including yours and it then goes to say "10 lucky people on this list are winners"! and you just know that you are not. anyway, yeah, i dont know. i dont ever get as far as posting them off.

I did win �25 from Sunday Express General Knowledge Crossword a few years ago!

I have been doing the M.O.S �1000,xword and the Express on sunday ,also the crusader crossword for over 4 years,religiously, and haven't won a bean.If I do ever win I don't think it will cover the costs of envelopes and postage!! It would be interesting to know how they pick out the winners and if someone has ever one more than once. Happy xwording.

I won the Sunday Times prize crossword many years ago (pre internet). It was only a �12 book token. That week, there was a particularly obscure poet in one of the clues and I spent hours in the library before I located his name. I thought I must have stood a good chance, as not many people would have had the time available to research it. There probably weren't many entries sent in that week. Also won the Daily Mail prize. Can't remember how much that was. Back in the sixties.

My nieces husband won �1000 in the Sunday Express crossword,2 years ago.6 months later a friend won (then)�750 in the Mail General  Knowledge crossword..My son has won over 100 prizes in competitions on Loquax including a �4000 holiday to Italyi.I for my sins have one about 20.The key to it is perceverence.I have also won about 12 Tv quiz shows.

Well that gives me a bit of hope I'll keep going - the one I would love to win is the Daily Mail cottage I enter that one every time but I'm still hopeful.   If I do win the cottage you can all come for a holiday.
