i recently got my back garden monoblocked,i was wanting it right up to the outside wall of my house but the company who done it put a run of stones round the edge and said i must have this for drainage,my neighbour few doors along has his done and has his monoblocking right up to the wall,i have challenged the company about this and they said my neighbours is wrongly done,my neighbour says they have put the stones round the edge to save them doing lots of cuts on the bricks,i dont know what to believe, does anyone know if i need these stones round the edge?

I'm not so sure about the 'drainage thing' tho as the paving should fall away from the dwelling. If this is not possible, a grated channel is installed to take the water to a soakaway or drain, altho regs now frown on taking water into the existing drainage.
the reason i wanted it right up was we have a woodlice problem and no matter what i do i cant get rid,and before i got the back done the stones that were there before had them under them,if there is nothing for them to hide under then we have a better chance of keeping them away from the house, they now are just going to hide back under the stones and find gaps and cracks to come into the house through
