Hi everybody. My computer is running on Windows XP, when I insert a DVD I get the message that I do not have a compatible program to view the DVD. Now ,my question is:can I download something for free or should I just go and Pay. TIA
It's not telling you you need a program .. just the DVD codecs.
Install these, and it will work. All small files. No programs to clutter upsystem ... just codecs.
MPEG2 Splitter ... (Matroska Splitter .. Link top right) ...

I presume you have Windows Media player installed? or another Direct Show player?
Classic Media Player or VLC player are also capable of playing, but you don't need these programs for DVD playback.
You may google search for VLC player, it's a nice freeware that can play DVD.
Or you can follow this guide to rip and copy the video from DVD to computer, then you can use windows media player to play it.
