The 1921 and 1931 census returns were pretty much destroyed in WW2 and there wasn't one in 1941 and so there are not many that our descendants will get to look at just the way we couldn't use any before 1841, so every one is quite valuable. I have been included in 5 so far and hope to make it onto another couple!!!
No, there was a report in the press recently that because the state now holds so much information on us through other means a national census is unnecessary. After all. when you answer census form questions you are merely telling them what they already know.
I guess that's true mark, in the future records will be available that will show a much more detailed account of our lives from the directgov databases, so an actual 10 year snap shot will seem antiquated to those yet to tread this earth!
sorry i called you mark mike lol
I put so much on my 1991 form it was really ridiculous, but i wanted it to contain as much info as i could sqeeze on there without making it inaccurate. Hopefully when it is released it will be useful to future generations of genealogists!!
the 2001 form had alot less space on it and really wsn't as enquiring as the earlier ones. Shame really. I also kept photocopies o both of them and they are in my family history files.
