How can I remove polystyrene ceiling tiles and adhesive from my ceiling? Is there a particular product to clean off the adhesive?

You can always scrape off the tiles with a scraper and do the ceiling in ARTEX.

There is no easy way to get them off ... you just have to chip away at them and then sand down the ceiling. Good luck with it.

I recently removed polystyrene beams from original beams by steaming small sections at a time with a wallpaper steam stripper and paper scraper.

would it be possible to leave them on ...they'd serve as a goog thermic insulater
