Digibox Trouble

We have had a freeview digibox fitted. We are unable to videotape any channels from the digibox, in fact, having the digibox on seems to affect the video player, and the video player only works when the digibox is switched off. The engineer who installed it says the video player must be faulty. Anyone any ideas please?

I got round this by using te RCA connetors instead of scart.

The engineer is a complete idiot!  It sounds like the video and digibox are both tuned to the same channel.  Without knowing model numbers I can't tell you how to retune either, but it is very easy.  If you paid the supplier to have this installed, complain and ask them to send an engineer who knows what he is doing.  Tell them if they don't, you will pay someone else to do it, and claim off them in the small claims court.

Thanks for replies. The engineer who installed it told me he is an aerial erector (we also had a digital aerial fitted that same day), not a video engineer, and I think he's suggesting that we get a video engineer to sort the problem out. I was expecting him to be able to do it, as I thought it was all connected, but maybe I was expecting too much? I suspect that it might be straightforward for someone who knows a lot about this sort of thing.

I connected my freeview box myself. I simply turn the Video to the AV channel and it tapes no problem.
