Happy St. George's day to the cities of Moscow in Russia, Genova in Italy, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Beirut in Lebanon, Qormi and Victoria in Malta and all the others.
apparently he was born in Palestine (Palestinian mother and Turkish father) so there's no way he's going to be allowed into a country that is already overrun with immigrants and on the verge of having a Muslim majority. Shouldn't we have St Mauricedance as our patron saint?
Would you personally celebrate pride in being English - and, if so, in what way ? and would you do away with St George as a focal point for pride in being English and what if anything would you replace him with ?
Happy St Georges day to all. Whilst walking into work I was pleased to see the petrol station staff were busy adorning it with bunting, England flags and wearing red and white wigs!
I'm not sure why St Georges nationality would detract from people wanting to celebrate their country. St Patrick wasnt born in Ireland and St Andrew wasnt Scottish - its not a problem.
Apparently, any jibe or negative comment equates to full-blown opposition.
"I love my little boy but he's annoying when he's grumpy."
"You hate your child! You're a son-o-phobe! You'd betray your own flesh and blood! You're anti-offspring."
Yes, England and the English are pretty wonderful and i'm very happy to be one of them although with grandparents from Wales, Ireland and Scotland I tend to feel more British than English.
Thing I don't get is, I felt happy to be English yesterday as well and I probably will tomorrow and beyond.
"Thing I don't get is, I felt happy to be English yesterday as well and I probably will tomorrow and beyond" - a good way of feeling it.
So what is the purpose of St George's Day? - just a special day to extra celebrate what you value and love- in this case being English - bit like celebrating a birthday of your nearest and dearest maybe
"Happy St George's Day! Yes. And ?" - doesnt need to be an And !
