how to "wake" computer up again...?

sometimes when my computer appears to have gone on standby or hibernate or whatever, i cannot get it to come back on again...i press allsorts of butitons but ntothing works and i eventually have to turn it off and on again...is ther some way to do this, a particualr button or way of pressing the button that i should do?

i am on vista home, and have a compaq presario f500

The power button should bring it out of hibernation/sleep. Just give it time.

nor me it just turns the comp off and ive tried everything too

I have the same problem with hibernate, nothing brings it out of that mode.

Hibernate has always been problematic, it relies on every single device driver on the system being full Microsoft compliment, and often some are not.

You can try going to the manufacturers website and downloading all of the latest drivers for your system and installing them and that will often cure hibernation problems, but if it doesn't it's sometimes easier to just accept that hibernation doesn't work and don't use it.

hi chuck it's not hibernation on mine its stand by
if i click on stand by or press the button that's set in the power setting to go into that it does but it will now wake up i have to (or did before i gave up on standby) press restart
