Could someone please explain how i can change the font lettering,
so each time I write a letter I dont have to search for the type of lettering I wish to use.

It depends which version of Word you are using but you need to change the default font to the one you want. Click the help icon on your toolbar and search for "change default font", that should give you instructions for your particular versio.

On mine you have to click the little south-east pointing arrow in the corner of the box, that will open up a new small window with the attributes to set the default font.
