User Profile - how to change email eddress?

I registered using one email address and now I want to use another instead. But when I go to edit my profile, even though the email address fields in the user profile are editable text boxes, changing the setting and saving just leaves the original values i.e. I'm stuck with the email address that I used to create the profile.

What am I doing wrong? Or is one chained to the same email address forever?

(Same goes for name - the field is editable but editing and submitting always leaves it unchanged. Maybe that field is used for part of the key in user records in the AB databases and thus can't be readily changed.)

About 3 years ago I changed my email address but I didn't change it on here. Yesterday, I had to change in on here in order to get an avatar. I had to type it in and submit about 4 times before it was accepted.....Keep trying.

Interesting... let's hear the answers to this.
As far as I know it is one username per e-mail address.

If you have another e-mail address I suppose you need a new name.
You should be able to change it, you can not change it to an email address that has ever been used previously to register at AB.
I had the same problem with getting avatars....it means bibblebub that the new email address that you're trying to put in is already in use. Have you got a spare name on here? I used my partners email address and it worked.
Keep pressing Ctrl & F5 together after you have pressed 'Submit'.
I had the same problem, then I put in the new email & before clicking submit I used
Ctrl & F5 together the page refreshed then I clicked submit and it worked..

I had no trouble changing mine, went to profile. edit details, deleted old email address entered the new one scrolled down to submit and click worked first time

Ummm is correct. If the system doesn't accept your new email address it means it has been used on the system before.

BBBe99- I think bibblebub's and spodocommodo's avatars are the same. I guess we'll get more of this over time as most of us use the same site to find the pics

no reply emails from answer bank seems appropriate really as this is what happened.
could remember password went through the procedure to recover it only to be advised that email address is not recognised. Try to reregister and am advised that email is ready regestrered.
today a different email address and I am now able to use answerbank again
