you need to register at www.gravatar.com with the same email address you use for AB, then just follow the instructions

devadiva, Apparently, not everyones profile edit page looks like mine:

"Your avatar is currently active
Clear the checkbox to stop showing it.
Are you still seeing the default avatar? Maybe you need to register in Gravatar.com"

Date of Birth:
Gender:
Your email address:
Confirm your e-mail address:
etc . . .

Any way, I concur with roslyn251254. Registering with Gravatar and uploading your avatar/s there is an essential step.
