Inflatable car Booster Seat
9 Answers
Don't even know if this item exists, but if not someone should invent it. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an inflatable booster seat that you can use in cars for older children so that you can take it on holiday? Have trawled the internet, but maybe I am just not using the right words.
Hope someone can help - they charge an exorbitant price when you are hiring one abroad.

I am not a cheapskate and i do value my kids safety, but it is an absolute rip of to charge 60 euros for the hire of a booster seat. Maybe I just need to shop around the hire companies more!
I would have to take 2. My kids are 7 and 6 and while the older one technically doesn't need a booster here as he is over the height limit, we normally use one. However we are going to France and I believe that they need to use one until age 10 there regardless of height. I just think that with luggage, 2 kids, hand luggage and 2 kids on a no frills flight, trying to add in 2 boosters as well will be the straw that broke the camel's back!
We will probably only use the car from the airport to our accommodation and back, but to book transfers was coming in at over 400 for a 50 mile each way journey.
I guess you are right with the inflatable idea - I am sure that if it was possible, someone would have done it by now.

The first Inflatable booster seat suitable for use with a 3 point seat belt which can be stored in a schoolbag or glove compartment is :

Car booster seats are in fact very necessary as it is also imperative that the lap belt sits across the childs lap and not on their abdomen preventing internal injury on collision. The seat belt restraint previously on the market only positioned the shoulder strap therefore it does not meet the current regulations as set out by the United Nations in reg R44/04

Look at www.bubblebum.co.uk
The seat belt restraint that someone mentioned previously only adjusts the shoulder section of the seat belt and not the lap belt which can cause serious abdominal injury. The Bubblebum meets the current regulations R44/04 which ensures that the lap belt is also correctly positioned.
Also, it is only 19.99stg weighs less than half a kilo and fits into your handbag or schoolbag!!!!!

Hi Graine,
Why would you say the easycarseat does not meet regulations? Copies of the certificates including videos are on the easycarseat website. I checked out the bubblegum product. This is a simple booster seat with nothing extra to offer. It is cheaper then the easycarseat but it doesn't hold the child's neck when he/she would fall asleep. This is so important I think. My children always fall asleep on a longer journey. It is so important that the car seat holds their neck. Have another look you will be impressed by the easycarseat's quality. This company has been in business for over 50 years. I can only recommend it, we use it on a daily basis not only for travelling abroad. http://easycarseat.com Media URL: http://easycarseat.com

Hi,
I would like to recommend the easycarseat I bought a week ago.
At first I was curious and second, I wanted to fit 3 car seats next to each other with ease.
I have two sons 4 and 5 and the newborn (for him I have a carseat suitable for his age). After the first car seat arrived we found more benefits then we expected. Fits perfectly, can be deflated when not in use so it takes up no space when my husband use the car for taking colleagues for meetings after the schoolrun.
It's safe as the carseat is secured by the standard 3 point safety seat belt and the material is as strong as the rafts and canoes the company also makes.
So the second easycarseat is on its way to us :).
Customer service is also good indeed. They answered 100 questions I gave them prior to purchase:).
So, this is a product we are happy with.
