NEWSFLASH! Stephen hawking-Alien Invasion!

Talking of the Alien prequels, did anybody read Stephen Hawkins theory of how if we contacted an alien species it could be trouble for us. He describes how they could plunder us dry if they arrived uninvited and made a reference to how Christopher Columbus did the same thing with the native Indians when he eventually found the New World.
Do you think it is possible that another form of life would come here and disrupt and corrupt our tiny planet?

They're not aliens, they're persons of inter galactic minority. They should be made to feel welcome, they should be given housing, heating allowances in the winter time and a fast track claims division at the DWP. And it will happen if Gordon Brown gets to stay at No.10.

I can't imagine why any other species would want to communicate with us anyway. We're a horrible species, full of greed, cruelty and selfishness. If they had any sense they would strip us of our natural resources and begger off again.

One would hope that any species that had reached the point where they could travel interstellar distances, would have long left behind the primitive, "bagsie it's mine" attitude reminiscent of our own primitive past.

Im pretty sure i've heard that this is why NASA etc dont transmit a "we are here" with our location, as you never know who will receive it

NASA wouldn't need to transmit anything to reveal our location to most the universe,

We as a planet produce hundreds of thousands of radio transmissions that don't just stop at the edge of our atmosphere, they will all escape into space and directions wouldn't need to be transmitted, it's very easy to work out what direction a radio signal is coming from and with two separate sites receiving it is even easier to triangulate the precise position of the origin.

Nasa themselves also operate a deep space radio network for transmitting to far away space craft and receive signals back from them, this too would be detectable by any other being right across the universe (given enough time) and again, no details would need to be included in the transmissions for the exact position of their origin to be worked out.

So if there are any intelligent alien life forms out there, listening to radio transmissions, then they are hearing any that the dinosaurs emitted?
