Where has it all gone - there seems to be nothing on the news about it - last week we had reporters in every country in Europe reporting (bit of a mystery how they actually got there though {:0 /

Did all the holidaymakers get home ?

The ash was formed as snow and ice hit the lava and it briefly froze and then reshattered forming the very fine ash.

Most of the snow and ice has probably been used up now
I know that half a ton of Ash ended up on my car if that helps?

was this on the t.v. Jake ?
The Volcano is still spewing Ash and steam DEN but our SW winds are helping to keep a lot of it at bay. A lot depends on what is happening at around 20-30,000 feet. Some of the stranded holidaymakers are still making their way home.

Happy Birthday to your daughter, dive .
I think there was a discussion about this on one of the BBC science programs when it was all in the news.

The ash should stop when the ice and snow is all melted - just as well the volcano could go on for years.

There's a nice demo of what it does to jet engines here:

Good link Jake, nicely explained in a way anybody could follow with no tecnichal jargon to confuse
One of our lads was stuck in switzerland, so he trained and bussed his way back to belgium and then caught a freighter across the channel to felixstowe.
On the other hand, if it had been me, i'd of just got comfy in a nice swiss bar and got steaming until my flight reboarded
