if you are using a regular needle or a safety pin to pierce something (like ears), what can you sterilise/clean it with to make sure that no infection occurs? it would be best if it was something that is used around the house so i don't have to go and buy something as i probably wont use it again.

thanks!

p.s, if you are thinking 'how stupid - dont pierce with a safety pin!' ... please dont post that as an answer, because i already know that's what everyone's gonna say :)

id use surgical spirit to clean it then hold it over a flame.
i would sterilise the needle in boiling water..leave it a few minutes then it will be fine..my daughter used to do that she pierced her own ears 4 times..without my knowledge i may add..and she sterilised in boiling water..

thank you :)

i'll add to my DIY piercing collection tomorrow!

Yes I was told I was stupid too ...many years ago. I done mine (ears) 3 times with a sewing needle, after soaking it in boiling water for a bit. Didn't have any problems.
try burning it i dont know why but someone told me that sterilizes it like running a lighter over it..
