Dead Monkeys

Last week whilst driving on the A55 towards North Wales we saw three (what we thought) dead monkeys on the central reservation, one before the tunnels and two after. It was during the daytime and yes we were sober! Can anyone shed any light on this?

We drove from Derbyshire, picked up the M60 M56 and followed the A55. My partner who was in the front saw one that I didn't notice. We saw three in total.
