Faulty second hand cooker
My daughter bought an electric cooker from a second hand shop. The cooker has since stopped working and the seller says it is her fault for leaving the cooker on " to warm the house" This is untrue, and despite following advice from Trading Standards with letters, etc. he refuses to repair the cooker unless she pays for it - £80 plus. Is there any alternative to going to the small claims court.?

The cooker was bought in November and went wrong at Christmas. There was a 3 month verbal guarantee ( nothing written) The seller is ignoring any letters and phone calls made to him. He lent her another (cheaper) cooker and took the one she bought away for repair.He still has it. Trading standards say her next move is the small claims court but if she loses will have to pay his expenses.
