Yes bit saving someone from drowning isn't deliberately giving your life to save someone, which is what i though the question was. Of course I would try and save someone who was in danger, but not, if I knew that it would result in my death.

a mate of mine whilst on duty in northern ireland,and i wont bore you with the details,gave his life,he knew full well that he had a good chance of dying..to save a comrade,which he did,but paid the ultimate price...would you say that that was a waste of time then???

thats what i mean poodicat ''morally'' right....im sure people act on instinct in a life or death situation....i guess its no good being a dead hero tho eh??
Oh dear stoke - I think that tth will never see another view on this question - each to his own. My view is just that I love somebody else more than I love myself and the giving of my life would be the ultimate token. Simples.
