Why did they make the Whomping Willow look so different?
I do too. In the third movie they skip around too much, and they don't explain anything. And they don't show the Final Quidditch match, where Gryffindor wins the Quidditch cup. I wanted to see that part so bad, but they didn't have it. Also, I didn't like the landscaping. Hagrid's hut (in the 1st and 2nd movie) was really close to the castle. And now in the third movie, it looks like you ahve to walk a couple of miles to Hagrid's hut, and what's with all of the fountains and the clock. I mean it looks nice, but the castle is supposed to look like a castle, it's not supposed to be the up-to-date. Also, I was very disoppointed in Siruis. The guy who played Surius did a good job, but he isn't handsome like they said Siruis was supposed to be in the books. I also want to know where Peeves is. I was looking forward to seeing him.
Also, they made a little goof in one of the movies. You know Susan Bones? She's in Hufflepuff. Well, in one of the movies (and in a couple of the scenes) Susan was with Gryffindow, and Slytherin. It's only supposed to be two classes, but that's only a little mistake.
I think that the third film was rushed (and HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book of the series). But I also LOVE the Harry Potter books, and I do love the movies, even if they have their goof ups (what movie doesn't?) I was just disappointed in the third film. I expected more from it.
i would agree the POA was still a good film though, even if it differed greatly from how I imagined the book. I think Gary Oldman was a poor choice for Sirius Black, not how I pictured Sirius at all, should have asked Robert Carlyle or Sean Bean instead. Even Lupin wasn't too good a choice they get a man who looks like your average English teacher to play a werewolf for goodness sake. Tim Spall was pefect as Wormtail exactly how I imagined it. Think in the film they tried to put too much emphasis on Harry changing through puberty etc whereas if they stuck to the book a bit closer would have been even better.
Dunno what they're gonna do with the next few books in the series as they are covered in a lot more detail so looks like they'll miss even more from the film which is a shame.
I thought the third movie was crap! It didn't explain anything, and if your like my parents and never read the books then your completely clueless. I agree with PunkyD on a lot of things. The third book ia my favorite too. And I did expect Sirius to be better looking. Although, Harry and Draco are very good-looking! Hee hee! ;) Anyway, I hope the next movie is better.
i think that people have their own ideas of what things in the harry potter book will be like and so when the movies are made they are never going to be 100% correct or live up to peoples expectations. also the movies are going to miss parts out because if they had everything from the books in them they would be really long and even the most devoted harry potter fan would not be able to sit and concentrate for ages at a time
